I was very happy with this crib when I first got it. Pretty easy to put together, in my opinion. It is very study and well constructed. The clear side panels are going to be nice to have for easy viewing of the infants while sleeping. So, the crib itself I would rate a 4 star., ,,,,, , ,,,,,,,,,,,,, On the other hand, the mattress I would rate as 'poor', one star-- main reason being, they used chemical flame retardants on this mattress (I confirmed this with the rep at their company). She informed me that the chemical flame retardants used on the mattress are 'not banned by state or federal regulations' and I told her that holds no weight as far as Im concerned; the government has been known to not ban products that should have been. Given these infants will be spending the better part of their day sleeping on this mattress- that doesnt sit well with me AT ALL., ,,,,,,,,,, , ,,,,,,,,,,,,, The rep informed me that starting in 2014, this crib will now come with their Infapur mattress which does not use any chemical flame retardants....well, doesnt the fact that the company changed to this type of mattress speak to the fact the the previous mattress (the one I have and that you're researching) is not completely safe? I believe it does. , ,,,,,,,,,,, , ,,,,,,,,,,,,, So, while I think it's great the company now offers a safer mattress, that doesnt help people like me who ordered 8 cribs for her new day care center thinking they were 100% safe and now I have to go and buy 8 new mattresses. I guess part of that blame goes on me for not completely researching this mattress before purchasing-- which is why I am giving you this warning., ,,,,,,,,,,, , ,,,,,,,,,,,,, I would advise for you to wait-- I just bought my cribs last week (12/3/14) and the manufacture date on the crib was March 2013-- so that's why I dont have the new mattress. Not sure how long you'd have to wait to get one of the newer versions-- but I feel it would be worth the wait if you can put it off or order it from somewhere where they can confirm you will receive the INFAPUR MATTRESS with your crib.
