An NGO of traditional weavers, UMBVS successfullychanged the centuries-old tradition that forbade women from working on theloom. They started with a small group of 30 weavers, each equipped withtraditional weaving techniques and personal skills, which have been handed-downfrom generation to generation. Now the organization has spread to 90 villages,supporting more than 170 families. The main weaving technique is done on a pitloom.
